Current Year SGC Overview
Parents & Teachers! We want you to run for election and make a difference at your student's school.
The SGC candidacy window opens February 2, 2026. Interested individuals can complete the Candidate Declaration Form for a 2-year term (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2028). The declaration period closes on March 27, with voting scheduled for April. Learn more on the FCS School Governance Council website.
The purpose of the School Governance Council is to provide parents, school staff, and community members with a leadership role in the management of the school. The School Governance Council is a governing body that is representative of the community and the school but operates under the control and management of the Board of Education. The Council is responsible for making decisions regarding the strategic direction of the school including:
- Approve the school strategic plan and updates
- Approve the annual budget and annual resource allocations
- Manage the Request for Flexibility process
- Participate in hiring the principal (in the case of a vacancy)
- Provide annual feedback on principal performance.

*PUBLIC COMMENT PROTOCOL: Each member of the public will have three minutes to speak during each segment. The Public Comment period is designed to gain input from the public - not for immediate responses from the Council to public comments presented. Public Comments are not the only means for providing input. Emails to the council members via FCS email is strongly encouraged.
